On October 28th, 2021, the 38th andSheridan partners and community members came together to celebrate the official groundbreaking of the Indy Fresh Market. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and safety protocol, the groundbreaking event was primarily virtual and streamed via the Cook Medical Facebook page, but it didn’t put a damper on the excitement and anticipation of the new grocery store. After a few words fromPete Yonkman (Cook Medical), Michael McFarland and Marckus Williams (Indy FreshMarket), and Ashley Gurvitz (UNEC), the partners gathered for a ceremonial “turning of the dirt” to mark the beginning of construction on the grocery store. The grocery store is scheduled to be completed by early 2023.
The Indy Fresh Market will be a full-service grocery store that will provide a much-needed food source in the NortheastIndianapolis community. A market of this size will not only feed the community, it will also bring additional jobs and resources to the residents in the neighborhood. The Indy Fresh Market will be located right next to the newGoodwill manufacturing facility.
